Oil IN Water refers to products measuring the concentration (in ppm or %) of oil dissolved or emulsified oil in water.
Oil ON Water refers to products monitoring separated oil on the water surface.

The
HydroSense 2410 continuously monitors the water sample flowing through it for ppm concentrations of hydrocarbons. The display, signal output, and alarm can
be configured within the
0-1000 ppm range.
The
HydroSense 3410 continuously monitors a clean water sample
for petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations. The display, signal output, and alarm can
be configured within the 0-100 ppm range.
The
HydroSense 3420 continuously monitors a clean water sample
for oil leaks. The display, signal output, and alarm can be configured within the
0-100 ppm range.
The
FluoroCheck II is benchtop and transportable unit for discrete sample measurements of ppm hydrocarbons in water. Direct water samples for screening or an EPA approved hexane oil extraction method may be used.
The 2114-OWM is used for monitoring as the water phase
changes to oil in a tank or pipe. A probe inserted into a tank or
pipe measures the capacitance field. This is ideal for general
monitoring of oils and other liquid phase changes in a process.
For separated
Oil-on-Water applications, Arjay offers the Hydrocarbon Float
Sensor. This floating sensor monitors the surface of water in sumps, tanks, and lagoons to alert when oil has separated to the water surface. This is typically used to alert of spills or control pumps.
The
2114/2214 monitors a floating sensor on the water surface to
indicate the thickness of separated oil. An LCD display of the
thickness, analog output and relay alarms are standard.
Contained oil/water separators,
sumps and pumps can be
monitored using a point switch alarm (9820/9830)
set for a determined
interface level. If an indication of the actual interface level is desired, Arjay offers a
continuous interface monitor (2114).
